Teacher Trainer
Steven Breakstone was born, raised and educated in NYC and the metro area. Since 1999, Steven has been teaching violence and bully prevention, healthy relationships and social emotional learning skills to K-12 students. He also provides similar workshops and trainings to parents and educators, and advises on education law, behavior management, and assertive communication techniques. Steven is the author of “How to Stop Bullying and Social Aggression – Lessons and Activities to Teach Empathy, Friendship and Respect” and “The Wallop Story – How I Learned to Stop the Bullying”.
After graduating from Hofstra University in 1985, Steven continued his education by walking with his adopted German Shepherd, Dixie, 3000 miles from New Orleans to Washington State stopping to work on a farm, ranch, ski lodge, and various other jobs. During this time, Dixie became the National Poster Dog representing animals available in our nation’s shelters. He then spent 9 years teaching social and living skills to adults with developmental disabilities in Washington. Steven spearheaded the project Washington Walkabout which had him and Dixie walk 1,300 miles around Washington State with Reggie Feckley, a man with developmental disabilities, to show what people with disabilities CAN do. His book, Washington Walkabout is still available.
