An Exciting Year Of Shared Learning

The 2019-2020 school year is upon us and with the new school year the Open Future Institute is welcoming new and exciting partnerships and opportunities! We are honored to now host the QUESTion Class in six new schools in New York City including three new partners in The Bronx, two new partners in Manhattan, and one new partner in Brooklyn.

The addition of these new partner schools means that nearly 1,000 new students shepherded by 25 teachers across 14 schools will explore life’s biggest questions in the QUESTion Class in the 2019-2020 school year. Their beginning of their journey marks a notable milestone for OFI as this cohort of students join an alumni base of 1500+ students who have experienced our innovative curriculum.

No doubt this year’s cohort of QUESTion Class teacher’s are feeling both prepared and excited to lead the class. One participant in our August 3-day QUESTion Class professional development day said of the training “I’ve been teaching for twenty years and this is best Professional Development session I’ve ever been to” and another followed that by saying of the class: “This class will change not only student’s point of view but the teacher’s too. It is a very intimate class that will help everybody grow together.”

What excites us most is that we have observed time and again that with each new partnership, we learn as much from them as they do from us. Each new principal, teacher, and student brings an infinite well of wisdom that takes the QUESTion Class into uncharted territories and expands all of our understanding of what is possible. We can’t wait to update you on our collective learning this school year.

"One expression of freedom together, is to be prepared to take responsibility for the culture of the future. So many things that we see as fate is because we don’t dare to take responsibility. The QUESTion Project is taking a promising step towards impacting the culture of education.”
- Dr. Joe Duffey, Former Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities
