The QUESTion Project

The QUESTion Project provides a structure for young people to address the most important questions and choices they face as they become young adults and begin to take responsibility for their own life and future. It enables them to question and define their outlook on life, pursue their deepest aspirations, and define their role in making the world a better place.

Our Methodology

We engage students to explore the empowering nature of choice, the intangible sense of purpose that can give that choice meaning and direction, and the fearlessness that is needed to stay true to oneself. We do this in a peer context where young people can learn from each other and see their autonomy and individuality in the context of an interconnected whole. Our curriculum presents tools that help them to step outside of their immediate circumstances and see their lives within a bigger picture..

Choice

Students develop a deep appreciation for the potential inherent in their capacity to choose. Never before have young people have been exposed to so many options. Many can feel overwhelmed by the choices they have and the responsibility to define their own lives. Exploring choice in their own experience opens a sense of possibilities, and gives them the confidence to deal with the challenges that confront them.It empowers and inspires them with a positive responsibility to forge their own lives and future.

Purpose

Students reflect on their sense of purpose in life. There are many ways to live a life of purpose .By identifying the things they find most important in life, they connect inspiration with action and develop confidence in making life decisions based on their sense of purpose. They are also challenged to think about how they can connect what inspires them to what contributes to society.

Fearlessness

Students gain strength in pursuing and staying true to their deepest convictions. When students have an opportunity to speak openly with their peers about the decisions, actions, and social pressure that overwhelm or intimidate them the most, they discover that fear is not as unique and isolating an experience as they had thought. The power of those fears diminishes and the impossible becomes possible.

Interconnectedness

By exploring the fact that we are autonomous individuals as well as part of a larger whole, students develop an understanding and appreciation for different perspectives of others. They are able to put their personal biases aside to work together for a greater purpose. Students see through fixed ideas and develop deeper empathy, compassion and care for others and the common good.

A Bigger Picture

Students develop the ability to see their lives, the future and the challenges they face from a big picture. They become aware of the bigger context they are part of and realize the significance of their lives in a larger framework. They learn to expand their perspective beyond their immediate circumstances and bring more complex and creative thinking to their roles as world citizens.

Our Programs

We work with schools to adopt a culture where big questions matter. Where morality, purposefulness, self-awareness, responsibility for a greater whole, and care for the future are a part of students’ everyday lives.

Our Reach

Since the launch of The QUESTion Project in 2014, our efforts have taken our programs in schools from Florida to NYC, to Oman, to the Netherlands. In 2015, we partnered with the Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics, a public school in the South Bronx to create a model for other schools. We are now taking steps to bring our programs to scale, nationally and internationally. We are very excited about the possibilities …
